City of lost souls has left me satisfied, and yet a little bewildered. Where do we go from here? Cassandra Clare has written several series, the Infernal Devices and the Bane Chronicles, but I’m not sure which book, if any, leads on from where city of souls ended. Do Clary and Jace ever seal the deal? Is Sebastian ever destroyed? What becomes of Maureen the new head of the New York vampire clan? Who can answer me these questions?

City of lost souls, much like the previous four books in the series had me staying up later reading, biting my nails at the suspense and action. Cassandra’s believable characters now feel part of my life, like I know them. Knowing Jace wasn’t really Jace during the whole book, and knowing that there was little chance of him ever being separated from Sebastian alive, I felt for Clary, and admired her utter determination in saving the guy she loved. Pretty powerful stuff for a novel aimed at teenagers.

Cassandra’s writing has inspired me to begin writing myself, and so today, I enrolled on an online course at www.writestorybooksforchildren.com. The course cost me £12 on a Groupon deal, claiming it to be reduced from £250 or something like that. Anyway, I’ll see how t goes. I guess blogging will be good practice, even if it takes me 10 years to write a chapter.
